ABOUT GABRIEL VALLEY FARMS

After working in the landscape and retail nursery business for 10 years, Sam & Cathy began their dream of growing plants and selling to nurseries and landscapers. During those lean first years they supplemented their income by attending farmer’s markets and local plant fairs & festivals. Sam’s interest was in growing natives & perennials, which was new to the trade and gaining in popularity in the early 1990’s. Cathy’s passion was with herbs, also new on the scene at the time and rapidly becoming very trendy.

By 2000 they outgrew their location of 4 greenhouses and moved to an adjacent piece of property, the former site of the Jonah Cotton Gin. With room to spare, more greenhouses came in rapid succession.

By now they had developed a regular clientele and their son Daniel joined them while attending college. He quickly caught on and was valuable not only in making deliveries but also in helping to run the business.

In 2006 they fulfilled a longtime goal by becoming certified organic. Growing as natural as possible with the least amount of chemicals had always been a priority and now it was a reality.

Today Gabriel Valley Farms has 25 greenhouses/cold frames and our product line has expanded to include natives, perennials, sedum/succulents and edible flowers. Our customer base is more diverse, including retail nurseries, farmers, landscapers, specialty stores, non profit organizations and schools.

It’s been an exciting journey, one we could not have made with out the loyal support of fabulous customers like you. We appreciate your patronage and look forward to serving you in the years to come.
